I'm attending OpenCF Summit!

I'm attending OpenCF Summit!

Hey everyone. The OpenCF Summit is only 3 weeks away now! OpenCF Summit is a three-day event being held Feburary 24 - 26, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. OpenCF Summit is focused exclusively on free software in the CFML community.

Dont delay, go book your tickets. In case you dont know why you should go here are a few reasons to attend.

Reason 1: I'll Be There (Oh and some other people I guess)

Thats right, that strange Irish guy will be there. This is a great opportunity to meet me. In fact its a great opportunity to meet a load of great cfml developers from around the country and further abroad.

Reason 2: Learn About GIT

In case you have been living under a rock GIT is the new kid on the block for source control and it rocks. Find out everything you need to know to get started using GIT and GITHub from people who are as fanatical about it as they are cfml.

Reason 3: Learn About MuraCMS

MuraCMS is the cfml communities answer to every other languages cms system. Easy to deploy, simple to develop in, powerful in use, MuraCMS is an awesome bit of cfml...and its open source! Come along and learn how to get started with it, and if you have more complicated questions the Blue River folks are always happy to help.

Reason 4: Learn About Railo and OpenBD

Cost, the Achilles heel of ColdFusion is no longer an issue with not one but two amazing open source cfml engines. Meet the guys behind these great projects and learn how simple it is to switch and all the benefits you get.

As a spoiler, you should try Railo's one click update system :-)

Reason 5: One Main Track

Never have to miss out on any of the good stuff. OpenCF is scheduled around a single main track so you dont have to skip one great talk to see another.

Reason 6: I'll Be Speaking

Unlike other conferences, the opencf summit has multiple un-conference sessions which gives more opportunity for folks to present and interact. I'm planning on doing an intro to programming cfml for performance and I'm not alone. This is a great opportunity to interact and discuss topics near and dear to the cfml community.

Reason 7: HackFest

Not an open source contributer yet? Well join in the hackfest to create a great open source cfml app and become one.

Reason 8: The Cloud

Much as I hate to use the term, the cloud really is becoming a big part of business technology. Come along to learn how you can leverage cloud based technologies with CFML.

Reason 9: Bust The Myths

ColdFusion developers are always having to deal with the myths about our favorite language. Well come along and get all the facts you need to put those annoying [insert other language] devs in their place the next time they spout some out of date inaccurate myth about ColdFusion.

Come along and learn the facts about cfml and be involved in helping to shape its future.

Reason 10: Cost

Finally its a steal. A ticket is $72 dollars. Nope that is not a typo. $72 dollars gets you three days of cfml goodness and there is a deal with the hotel for $99 a night.

Reason 11: More Reasons Than I Can Count

Actually I could probably give another 10,20,100 reasons to attend but why don't you just take my word and come along. I promise you will get more than your moneys worth.

So What Are You Waiting For?

This is a great conference for the cfml community so get booking those tickets.
